Thriller is a genre of fiction in which tough, resourceful, but essentially ordinary heroes are pitted against villains determined to destroy them, their country, or the stability of the free world.
Part of the allure of thrillers comes from not only what their stories are about, but also how they are told. High stakes, non-stop action, plot twists that both surprise and excite, settings that are both vibrant and exotic, and an intense pace that never lets up until the adrenalin packed climax.

Title sequence
the titling sequence effectively sets the tension with the use of A dark backing behind the title using an eerie green.they added to this using unsettling music in minor keys which cuts into a montage of sound-effects on a black screen.

Use of Effects
This thriller film wasn't reliant on special effects or editing effects as not much action was shown. it mainly concentrated in setting the scene and a vast amount of non diegetic sound. Apart from screen fades there was a minimal amount of filtering of the image.

Filters:
Blue/gray colour filter
lowering of saturation

Another effect used was a flash back. this was only used for a split second. They used this to show the disorientation and paranoia of the (killer) flashing an image of a killer in the mirror behind him. this was an effect i found incredibly effective an am considering using in the production of my thriller.
